Literature Text

My body lies limp;
despair running through me.
You said it was a one time thing.
Try saying that to my heart.

My eyes are shut;
thoughts racing before me.
I see you speak those soundless words.
Why did you have to say them?

My lips are still;
this is where yours once were
but you took them away from mine.
Without life is how they’ll lay.

My heart has died;
please look at what you’ve done.
Could have saved yourself the trouble
if only you had loved me.

My body lies limp;
no life running through me.
Loving me was a one time thing,
because now I am no more.
I was going through some of my things, getting ready for university in the fall when I found these two poems I had written back in July of 2004. They aren't cheery, but they reflect part of who I was, which has also shaped who I am, so that's why they're here. They say that people don't know what they have until it's gone...well, growing up not having a lot of things really helped me to appreciate them once I found them. I guess I sort of went backwards.

Welcome to life; it has no rules.
