Kindred-Spirit

Helen was a candle. Though small and often taken for granted, she released one of the greatest things on earth: light. She has helped us all find our way along darkened paths with that warm little flame. And now that that flame has been put out, never to shine upon us again, the entire world has dimmed a little. None of us have the power of fire, to bring her back to us now that she is gone. Though the candle is still there, it holds no life. It lays cold and alone, separate from us. We must now learn to keep her alive in our hearts, to remember that flame – the one that never flickered, nor faltered – a flame that though could have scorched

My body lies limp; despair running through me. You said it was a one time thing. Try saying that to my heart. My eyes are shut; thoughts racing before me. I see you speak those soundless words. Why did you have to say them? My lips are still; this is where yours once were but you took them away from mine. Without life is how they'll lay. My heart has died; please look at what you've done. Could have saved yourself the trouble if only you had loved me. My body lies limp; no life running through me. Loving me was a one time thing, because now I am no more.

You're screaming again. You slammed the door; I heard the words 'I'm gone.' I watched you leave, Walk down that road. I sat and thought 'How long?' The isn't the first And not the last.
